Last time out on the wedding photography blog, we started taking a look at Steph and Alex’s wedding day in Saffron Walden, a short hop south of Cambridge. It was a day of German and British wedding traditions, especially into the wedding reception. We join the day just after a beautiful wedding ceremony, when we were getting their wedding portraits.
We always love this part of the day, the bride and groom get a little bit of time to themselves. No offence to the wedding guests, but it nice to the couple s emotion after all the planning and build up to the big day. It also great to get some photos of our happy couple on their wedding day, the groom all suited up, the bride in that dress. It’s been your day, so we feel that it’s important to turn turn the attention of the camera towards you, at least for a little bit.
Then it was time for the horse drawn carriage to take them to the wedding breakfast and reception. I always feel a bit sorry for the groom, as they don’t always get that much time in the wedding vehicle, be it a vintage Austin, a modern Bentley or indeed a horse drawn carriage, but Alex did at least get to feel the wind in his hair on the trot down to the wedding reception. But there is plenty else to celebrate on your wedding day, and the as the sun went down, boy did they celebrate!
