Bishop’s Stortford Wedding

Quite a little while ago we took a look at Sophie and Tom’s wonderful engagement shoot in Hatfield Forest, Essex. It was great to spend a little time getting to know them a little bit more before their Wedding, at the wonderful St. Barnabas Centre in Bishop’s Stortford, Herts, which is connected to the local parish of the families, St. James the Great.

To start the day it was of course the hustle and bustle of people getting ready. First of all I made a brief stop into the venue. Here Tom and the groomsmen were busy making the final preparations, hanging the final decorations and putting a personal touch onto the venue. Then it was off to the bride’s parents house where the bride, bridesmaids and flower girls were getting ready. The make-up artists and hairdressers were all in full swing, and the bridesmaids and wedding dresses were hanging, anticipating the day to come.

Greek Wedding Traditions

With part of Tom’s from Greece Sophie and Tom had some wonderful Greek wedding traditions throughout the day. One really nice touch is the the bride writes the names of her bridesmaids on the soles of her shoes. Tradition says whosever name rubs out the most throughout the day, will be the next to get married.

With everyone ready bridesmaids started heading towards the church and our bride-to-be had a moment for quiet reflection before heading to the church. Then the moment came, the excitement kicked in and it was off to the church. At the church it was a beautiful ceremony and it was great family and friends join together for the happy occasion.
